What are lines and wrinkles?

Lines and wrinkles are creases and folds in our skin that become increasingly prominent as we age. Common problem areas are crow’s feet at the corner of our eyes, forehead lines and smile lines.

What causes lines and wrinkles?

Lines and wrinkles are a natural side effect of ageing. As we age, our skin loses its natural ability to renew itself, and produces less collagen and elastin. Creases develop in our skin at the points where our facial muscles are frequently flexed and our skin naturally creases – such as at the corners of our eyes when we smile. It’s a natural process, but we want to look good for our age, and treatments in-clinic can help us reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

What treatments are available?

There are a number of treatments available for lines and wrinkles. Most common are anti-wrinkle injections, which consist of a natural toxin – Botox – that is injected into the muscles of the face to relax them. When we move our faces and contract our muscles after this treatment, our muscles will be relaxed, meaning the lines won’t appear so prominently. Repeated treatments of these injections give the most effective results

Polynucleotide treatment is an innovative approach to improve lines and wrinkles by utilizing naturally occurring DNA fragments to regenerate and repair skin tissue. This non-surgical, minimally invasive procedure enhances skin elasticity, promotes collagen production, and hydrates the skin, leading to a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Ideal for revitalizing aging skin, polynucleotide treatment offers a gradual, natural-looking improvement, making it an excellent option for those seeking youthful, rejuvenated skin without downtime.

Microneedling can also help to improve lines and wrinkles, as it will boost your skin’s natural ability to produce collagen and elastin. I qualified as dentist in 2007 and have since gained a Level 7 qualification in injectable treatments (the highest possible), so you can trust that I have the skills and knowledge to deliver your treatment safely and successfully.

I am committed to continuous training to keep updated and safe in aesthetics. I completed a six-month mentorship programme with Dr Lee Walker (a leader in the industry), which has ensured I am working with the most evidenced-based research in aesthetics. I also recently took part in an ultrasound and cadaver course, which allows me to see where blood vessels are and reduce the risk of complications.

In addition, I am a senior clinical mentor, an international speaker and a key opinion leader for a dermal filler brand, demonstrating my extensive experience training other medical aesthetic practitioners.

My team and I are fully trained and equipped to manage any adverse events that may occur, thanks to my training and membership of the Complications in Medical Aesthetic Collaborative (CMAC). You can trust you are in safe hands when you undergo any treatment at my clinic.
