What happens during a consultation appointment?

Before every treatment, I will do a full consultation with you. This means I will ask you about previous treatments and surgeries you may have had, as well as any health conditions or medications you are on. This is important, as your safety is my highest priority.

We will talk about what your concerns are and what sort of results you want to achieve; this allows me to get to know you and your goals. We will then discuss your treatment options.

During this appointment, you will also be able to ask me any questions you may have, as it will be an opportunity for you to get to know me as well.

How will I know a treatment is right for me?

I am passionate about achieving exceptional natural looking results, while making patient safety a priority. I am committed to ethical aesthetic practice, always putting my patients’ welfare first. I will never recommend a treatment or product that I don’t personally endorse and have an in-depth knowledge of and experience working with. All treatments are tailored to each individual patient and I am committed to never over-treating my patients.

If you request a treatment that I feel you would not benefit from, I will advise against the procedure and instead work closely with you to create a more medically appropriate treatment plan.

How much can I expect to pay for treatments?

I will always try to offer you the best price possible while never sacrificing the quality of care I give and level of results you achieve. I will always be mindful of my patients’ budget, offering honest advice and tailored treatments. Ensuring that all patients go home with a positive experience and great natural looking results is the primary goal at Dr Raquel Skin and Medical Cosmetics.

Are dermal fillers safe?

Dermal fillers are hyaluronic acid-based fillers and have one of the best safety profiles of any injectable treatment, due to their biodegradable nature. They are minimally invasive and safe, if done by an experienced medical professional. As with any procedure, there are possible risks, the most common being post-procedure redness, bruising and swelling. All risks will be discussed on your consultation.

Do dermal fillers hurt?

I do everything I can to reduce discomfort and make the treatment as pleasant as possible. A topical local anaesthetic can be used in the area to be treated before the procedure, and any needles used during the treatment are very small in size. My experience and approach to patient care makes all procedures I do comfortable and safe.

How long do dermal fillers last?

Dermal fillers can last anywhere between three to 18 months. This will depend on the type of filler injected, the amount of filler used, the area of the face being treated and how active it is. It is also affected by how quickly your body naturally breaks down the filler, which will vary from person to person. During our consultation, we can discuss this in detail, taking into consideration your specific needs.

Do dermal fillers have any side effects?

Dermal fillers are minimally invasive and most people can return to their normal life immediately after treatment. However, all treatments pose some risk; the common side effects are redness, swelling and bruising. Allergic reactions are very rare but can occur. If you suffer from cold sores, it’s advisable to do preventive medication before treatment

Will I look “plastic” or “overdone”?

The answer is no. I am committed to achieving exceptional natural-looking results. During your treatment journey with me, I will listen to your concerns and then use my experience and medical knowledge to create a treatment plan that will suit you specifically. This means you will never look “fake” or “plastic”, while still achieving the results you desire.

What are the benefits of anti-wrinkle injections?

In a nutshell, your skin will look better, and you will find yourself feeling fresher, rejuvenated and more confident.

Many of us feel unhappy with the way we look, and that can have an impact on our self-confidence.  Anti-wrinkle injections can be a great confidence-booster, enabling you to feel comfortable in your own skin.

How do anti-wrinkle injections work?

Anti-wrinkle injections are a non-invasive procedure. A small injection is administered to facial muscles to smoothen out wrinkles and fine lines.

The injections work by blocking nerve signals to the muscles. The mechanisms that cause wrinkles are minimised, therefore reducing the formation of future lines and wrinkles and softening the appearance of current ones. The more treatments you have, the longer the effects will last and the more existing lines will fade. This helps to slow the ageing process, maintaining your youthfulness for longer.

It is a safe and painless procedure which leaves you feeling revitalised and refreshed.

Do anti-wrinkle injections hurt?

Most people feel slight discomfort that is short-lived. I do everything I can to reduce your discomfort and make the treatment as pleasant as possible. A topical local anaesthetic can be used in the area to be treated before the procedure, and any needles used during the treatment are very small in size. My experience and approach to patient care makes all procedures I do comfortable and safe.

How long do anti-wrinkle injections last?

Anti-wrinkle injections last from around three to six months but will vary from person to person. A gradual fading effect can be seen about five to six weeks after the treatment is done. With repeated treatments, effects will last longer. During our consultation, we can discuss this in detail, taking into consideration your specific needs.

Will anti-wrinkle treatments make my face look “frozen”?

Absolutely not. During the procedure, I choose very carefully which muscles to inject to prevent your facial expressions from changing or becoming “frozen”. The dose will also be tailored to your goals, meaning I can customise exactly how much movement you will have after the procedure.
